Can Nvidia Continue to Climb?

August 5, 2025

Nvidia has made history: on July 10, 2025, it became the first publicly traded company to reach a $4 trillion market capitalization, briefly closing at $4.004trillion and surpassing Microsoft and Apple in the process. This milestone cements Nvidia’s status as the face of the AI revolution and illustrates its explosive growth since breaking the $1trillion mark just two years ago.

Business & Fundamentals

Founded in 1993 by Jensen Huang, Nvidia originally focused on graphics processing units (GPUs) for gaming. However, Hopper and more recently Blackwell architecture have found dominant applications in AI and data. The company controls roughly 80% of the discrete desktop GPU, and its AI accelerators like the H100 and B100/B200 have become industry standards in high-performance computing environments.

Despite Nvidia becoming the largest publicly traded company, they are still seeing consistently strong growth on both top and bottom lines:

  • Revenue Growth of 69% in Q1 2025
  • EPS growth of 83% over the past 5 years
  • Analysts maintain a buy rating at $167/share

Can Nvidia Still Grow from Here?

Nvidia’s ecosystem, from GPUs and CUDA APIs to full AI stacks, serves as a one-stop platform for AI developers. Its chipsets power not just gaming PCs, but supercomputers, healthcare tools, autonomous vehicles, and cutting-edge data centers. Nvidia’s products are becoming an essential part of the supply chain for any company/product that strives to innovate. Big tech, including Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Meta, continues to invest heavily in AI, which plays directly into Nvidia’s hands.

The main headwinds include geopolitical risks, especially U.S. export controls to China which could cost up to $15billion in sales if unresolved. Valuation risk exists too, trading at ~30× forward earnings, but strong PEG metrics (~1.06) suggest growth justifies the price

Analysts forecast Nvidia’s shares could climb 8–53% over the next 12–18 months and expect EPS and revenue to continue growing ~20% annually. Longer term, as AI penetration widens across sectors like finance, healthcare, logistics, and creative industries, Nvidia stands as the technological backbone of productivity acceleration.

Nvidia’s achievement as the first $4 trillion company is no fluke. The AI giant underscores its unmatched position in the AI hardware ecosystem, stellar financial performance, and consistent innovation. Despite macro uncertainties, its continued roadmap execution and dominance in GPU-led AI computing point toward a trajectory that could see it break new valuation records, potentially paving the way toward $5trillion and beyond.
