Kristin Kelly brings more than 23 years of specialized tax experience to Strategic Wealth Partners, where she serves as Director of Tax Strategies. Her career spans high-net-worth and multi-generational family taxation, closely held businesses and partnerships, estates and trusts, real estate, private equity, and multi-state, international, and cross-border matters. She has built and led tax functions throughout her career—including tax operations supporting more than 35 private equity portfolio companies—and brings an additional layer of expertise in tax controversy, forensic accounting, and financial investigations.

At SWP, Kristin’s approach is proactive rather than reactive: she believes some of the most valuable tax work happens long before a return is ever filed. Whether a client is selling a business, restructuring an entity, transferring wealth, or preparing for a liquidity event, she brings the tax perspective into the planning conversation while decisions are still being made, working alongside the advisory team so the strategy fits the client’s complete financial picture. She is equally known for making complicated concepts clear—clients don’t need to know the tax code, but they should always understand their choices.

Kristin holds a PhD in Taxation, a Juris Doctor, three LL.M. degrees in Taxation, International Tax Law, and Tax & Financial Fraud, an MS in Taxation, and an MBA. She is an Enrolled Agent, a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Financial Forensics, and a Certified Forensic Accountant. Her credentials represent something more personal than letters after her name.

Born in Italy and raised by an Irish-American family, Kristin remains deeply connected to both sides of her story and returns to Italy often. She lives with her children and their Husky, Odin, and outside the office enjoys coaching softball, playing ice hockey, traveling, and exploring her lifelong interests in history, art, museums, ruins, and historic sites. An avid sports fan, she also enjoys baseball and hockey and values any opportunity to spend time with her children, explore somewhere new, or get back to Italy.
